TAKE TIME TO REFLECT ON THE GREAT THINGS IN YOUR LIFE, NOT WHAT DID NOT HAPPENCategory: It's All About Showing Up Stories Published: Monday, June 21, 2010
As I sit here writing my blog, I am thinking how grateful I am that I have a blog, and that I am able to sit down and write the blog, thanks to Michael at Infinity Arts in Temecula that helped me set it up, (They do FREE Blogging Classes). As I sit here writing this Blog, I can look out my home office window and see all the beautiful flowers blooming in my yard that because I am still healthy and strong I get to plant and cultivate each time I work in my special garden. I also get to look at my special garden of friendships I have so It also ties in to being grateful for all the wonderful people we all have in our lives. When was the last time you told them how special they are in YOUR life, a kind word, a smile a Thank You means a lot so do you take time to do those things? It seems we get so caught up being busy that we have no time to reflect or to tell someone special how important they are, or how you admire their work, or even to take time to smile at a stranger. As reflected over the week and the last weekend I realized how totally blessed I am, I have a wonderful family that I adore, I have thousands of friends across the country, I have two cats that love me and a garden that with the proper care just continues to bloom and bring me an abundance of joy. Last weekend 8 of us SHOWED UP, all of whom are great friends. We went to my daughter Lisa's Lake house in Lake Arrowhead, and what a powerful weekend it was. Most of us arrived on Friday, and it was a total weekend where we discussed each others needs and offered ideas and connections and on Sunday when everyone left we felt that each day we were there was special and that the bonds of our friendships continued to get even stronger. Each of these women are dynamic and doing things to change the world, busy yes, but not to busy to take time to share with each other. Paula Fellingham one of the guests, flew in on her way back from Canada to Utah where she lives. Paula is the CEO of The Win on line www.thewinonline.com , June Davidson one of my dearest friends and a business partner is the President of American Seminar Leaders and Coaching Firm International www.asla.com, Aggie Kobrin, is the CEO of CEC Events and the former Director of the Orange County E Women Network, Ardice Farrow, is a dynamic woman who is an expert in strategic planning and who has worked for some of the top movie studio's in Hollywood and is so brilliant at looking at the whole picture of a subject and coming up with ideas one never would think of. Cindy Ashton a fantastic entertainer and speaker who is also brilliant at looking at things and coming up with great ideas, Sue Lopez, another great friend who has over the years been a great giver to her communities and who with her work as a property manager is helping people in her community everyday. Dena Lansford who was a former VP for a bank and now is an Entrepreneur and another great person to look at detail. One of the things I wanted to accomplish over the weekend in addition to building my friendships with this women was my plan for my NAFE Western Conference called Success UP NAFE Western Conference 2011 that I will be doing May 20th and 21st 2011 in Orange County. I ran by my concepts of what I wanted to do with these brilliant women, and they liked the plan and gave me even more things to think about to make it even better. Aggie who is an expert at doing events gave me ideas for two hotels that she is setting up the meetings for me with. All will be a part of the event and feel what has been planned is a great plan. Cindy had some things she wanted to run by us and we helped her totally expand her ideas, Dena was looking to find what her plan would be and June and others totally helped her see the big picture, Each of us shared additional contacts with one another that would help us all expand the things we wanted to do. In addition to master minding for each other, we had great food to eat, watched a few movies, strengthened relationships, walked to the Lake and took the boat ride to learn more about Lake Arrowhead history and on Sat night watched the band entertainment. When Sunday came and it was time to leave we all wish we had more time to stay together but life 101 does not always afford the extra time, so we all went our merry way back to our daily lives in the various areas that we come from. Cindy and Aggie went back to Orange County, but first Aggie had to drive to her sons graduation in Santa Barbara, Sue who lives in Sun City had to head for Orange County for a friends birthday, June had to head back to Sierra Madre, Ardice back to Hollywood , Dena to Wildermar and yours truly to Sun City and Paula to a plane out of Ontario, CA to Utah where she lives. We were all grateful to my daughter Lisa and her husband Glenn for the use of the Cabin for the weekend. When was the last time you got your girlfriends together and just took off for a weekend? It is great therapy for all and also helps to build the bonds even stronger of your friendship. I know for me it was a valuable experience as I do so many things and they helped me to see what my true passion is, and what decisions I have to make in my life to get rid of projects I do that are not my passion. That all even became clearer this week when I had a group of doctors appointments and learned that I must give up the things I am doing that stress me out, which means I had to take a look at my life and totally see what I do and of those things what I love to do, and what I do not like to do. The message became very clear to me and so by the end of the month I will be shifting out of the things that stress me out. I was so grateful to be able to totally see the whole picture and realize I want more time for me, to go to the gym, work in my garden, take a nap if that is what I want to do, and yet still do the things I love to do which is to help women soar to greatness. I could totally see that some of the projects I was on were not what I wanted to do, so will need to tell the people that I was involved with on those projects that I no longer want to be a part of them and will then step out and move on. SHOWING UP can also mean SHOWING UP in your own life and taking time to evaluate who you are, what makes YOU happy, not work that you hate that makes others happy. When one does what they love so many doors open. For me it has been a whole week of excitement and a future even brighter once I knew that I had to make some changes. I love my work with all the women through NAFE, and now also thru WIN, as I will be doing some things with Paula and The Win On Line. I like speaking, training and helping individuals get government contracts so will expand my work on that as those are projects do not require my every day commitment which then leaves me time for me. I no longer want to work for anyone everyday even as a consultant, I just want projects where I get a task, complete it and then move on. I also realized if its a project that does not excite me I will not take it even if I need the funds. Doing things one does not like only in my mind creates Stress and lately I have experienced a lot of that which has caused my blood pressure to rise. Knowing that I am going to make the changes necessary for me by the end of the month has been a big relief and I have noticed my blood pressure is down. Perhaps having ones blood pressure rise is a way for us to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN to what our bodies and our hearts are telling us and to start making changes. It did me, and I am so relieved that I know see the picture and all that I need to do to complete it and start on my new Journey. One thing I am very excited about is that on March 8, 2011, International Women's Day will be celebrating their 100th Birthday, that is also my 75th birthday...and Paula Fellingham the CEO of The Win On Line is going to take the WIN and women across America to celebrate, commit and connect on that 100th Anniversary Day. Celebrate - WIN will celebrate in 10 Cities across the USA (Women worldwide are also invited) Commit - WIN will encourage these women to improve 1 thing in their lives in 3 areas:personal, family and country Connect - with al the women that WIN will be pulling together who are ready to live their best lives. * Personal = do something in 2011 that you've "always meant to do" for YOU! Family = WIN will encourage these women to help American Children eat better Country = WIN will encourage women to VOTE, and let their voices be heard and together we can "lift" America. Paula is planning events that will take place simultaneously across America - on March 8, 2011 Cities New York Washington, DC Atlanta Fort Lauderdale Saint Louis Chicago Dallas Seattle San Francisco Los Angeles. Her goal is 10,000 women at each location = 100,000 women (or more) ! The cost will be 100 pennies to register = $1.00. Why? So the WIN Can know how many people will be at each location and to secure the venues.
More information on this will be on Paula's website www.thewinonline.com I am so excited that my Western & Mid Atlantic Group of NAFE and I will be a part of this event and what makes it greater it takes place on my birthday. Paula wants other women's groups across the globe to be a part of this, so if you are interested in being a part or being a sponsor email Paula at paula@thewinonline.com and let her know you heard about it from Robbie. After the great weekend it became a week of other great things, I think they were greater because I was so much more clearer on the direction that my life had to take. I was totally excited about additional things NAFE will be doing that I am a part of, my upcoming 2011 NAFE Western Conference, my association with Paula and The Win, my places to SHOW UP to support Aggie and the things she is doing and so much more. I was able to attend two great meetings one for the Association of Women Entrepreneurs that was held in the Valley where I got to present an award to Cindy Ashton who was the speaker that day, the DSWA Meeting in Temecula where I got to again see the founder Nicki who had flown in from Hawaii and who is a friend, I got to attend the Circle of Friends NAFE meeting in Redlands and presented Ritchie Wills with an award in between all those I had several doctors appointments all with not the greatest news but with getting some early warnings so I can make some changes which I am prepared to do. Looking forward to my SOC FY NAFE meeting in San Juan Capistrano on the 22nd and Braveheart Women on the 24th that Aggie is doing and invited me to. It is amazing to me once we see the picture and make changes our lives seem so much better and amazing things start to happen. Speaking of amazing I also got to connect with a pretty amazing woman on Sat, her name is Marylee Lear she is the wife of the son of the founder of Lear Jet and herself an accomplished women and talent agent in Las Vegas. Marilee has led a fantastic life and opened the door for so many people in the Entertainment world, I also was able to introduce her to Paula Fellingham and Paula emailed me that they had a fantastic 1/2 hour phone conversation. When was the last time you opened the door for others to connect? Think about who you know and who you can connect others with. Just that kindness of doing that can be the one ingredient that can change a life or move a project forward. Marilee gave Paula some great additional insight to her 2011 celebration about having a celebrity at each event and of course Marilee deals in celebrities so that was a great match. I hope you had a great time with YOUR father for fathers day, I got to take mine to breakfast which is always a treat. Monday, June 21, 2010 @ 3:19:40 PM Robbie thank you for sharing about your powerful weekend. I so wanted to be there. I had a most wonderful weekend in Tracy Ca attending the OIF/OEF Memeorial for fallen Troops. Powerful and humbling. I look forward to supporting you in your vision of the Nafe conference. I myself have not been much of a doctor person over the years. Recently I had to give in and SHOW UP at my wonderful doctors office as I was having some knee pain. While I was there she asked me if I had any other problems and so I thought that I would share with her that I had been having a little breast pain on my left Breast for awhile.
