Tuscany Italy upcoming tripCategory: It's All About Showing Up Stories Published: Thursday, February 19, 2009 Showing Up to me is like a treasure map, you never know when you show up what treasure you will find. This upcoming Italy trip to LUCCA Italy, that is also close to PISA and Florence in the Tuscany region, is bringing together lots of my dynamic women friends and many who are also members of the NAFE & For You Network in Southern CA. Which I had the opportunity to be one of the Gold Founding sponsors of the For You/NAFE Networks. We leave March 14th and return March 21st. Since this trip became a reality because of SHOWING UP I thought I would share this story so that you can see what power there is in just SHOWING UP and how it can take you to places beyond what you imagined. It really started when I met Marsh Engle and started SHOWING UP at her Amazing Womans Day events. I also heard about her Palm Springs Amazing Womans Day event which I attended. Another friend who showed up was Shafig Hasan who does ret travel trips for wealthy clients all over the world. He also owns a Condo in Palm Springs that he offered for me to use during this Palm Springs event. I immediatley asked my friends to join me as I knew we would have a blast, sort of like a slumber get together like we all did when we were in College and High School. So one night after coming home from the great conference that Marsh put on, 15 of us were sitting around talking about the fun day at the conference, sharing stories and getting to know each other better. Somehow in the converstaion I said "my birthday is in March and I sure wish I could go to Italy", another friend June Davidson the President of American Seminar Leaders said "me too I love Italian men", and then other women in the room said "Going to Italy has always been a dream of mine". One of the women that SHOWED UP that night to stay with us was someone Rene Reyes. I met her that day as she came with her Aunt Lisa Davis who is one of the NAFE & For You Network members who brought her to the event and to stay with us at the condo. Rene is such a warm and loving person with a great heart that immediately everyone there felt like they had known her for years. So when Rene heard us all saying "wow Italy would be great" she said "I am from Portugal and I speak all over Europe and have lots of connections so let me see what I can do". We all said "Great". Two days later Rene called me and said "well I have arranged through some friends a great trip March 14th through 21st to LUCCA Italy", when she told me the great price I could not believe it. The first group of women are going for only $800.00 including airfare, a beautiful Villa and a cook. We were blown away. She said "the villa will hold 25, do you think you can get 25 women who might be interested", I said "yes I am sure I can". I then immediately sent out an email to many of the dynamic, FUN, professional women I knew and could not believe that in two days the Villa was filled, and even more wanted to go that we needed a second Villa, which Rene was able to find. So we found even more women to go, all whom are friends. The second group had a little higher rate of about $1225.00, which was still a bargain. We still can add a few more but the price is a little more if anyone is intersted they can contact me and I will connect them with Rene Reyes. We also will have a 16 hour layover in Paris on our way to Italy, arriving at night and through my ASKING and posting for information on all my social networks about learning about great places to SHOW UP at during the night in Paris I have gotten so many great ideas from people who have been there and I have shared that information with Rene to check out. I have been to Paris, but many of the women who are going have not, so they are excited as just seeing the Eifel Tower at night is an experience. As I said there are some dynamic women going on this trip, people like Ingrid Anthony the Editor of the Inland Empire Business Journal. She is going to be writing about the trip for her business Journal. Also going is Deb Halberstadt who owns Half City Productions. She is going to Video tape and photograph the adventure. One woman Susie Jacobson has worked for major movie studios in the past and so the idea came up that perhaps we might video tape this as a entry for the Sundance Film festival, so who knows that might happen as well. With these dynamic woman anything is possible.All of the women going are very successful and are Entrepreneurs and small business owners, in Southern CA. We may also have a few coming from the East who are friends of mine to meet us. The key is that all these women have connected by SHOWING UP someplace and that is how I have met all of them as I am really known as the SHOW UP queen. I seem to be everywhere and I am on 59 social networks so I meet lots of people everywhere I go. Also with my work as the NAFE Western & Mid Atlantic Regional Coordinator I get to meet thousands each year. NAFE is the largest global womens network in the world with over 66,000 members and growing, they are even launching in India this year. My work with the For You Networks, a 501 C3 nonprofit network whose mission is to help women grow both personally and professionally also puts me in touch with lots of dynamic women as they currently have 19 local connection networks in Southern California and they will be adding a new local connection in Palm Springs. My work with the American Seminar Leaders and the ASLA/Contacts Unlimited Speakers Bureau also connects me globally with not only dynamic women but men globally as well. My passion is to meet people, and to see how I can connect them with others that I know and meet, as well as spreading the world on the POWER of SHOWING UP and the POWER in Asking for what you want. The reason I started this blog is to share SHOWING UP stories that I and others have experienced because I totally believe and have experienced the SHOW UP power, also about having people start to ASK for what they want as those three words ASK are also so powerful. So this story had an ASK part, i.e. I asked Shafic to use the Condo, we asked Rene to connect with who she knew for the Italy trip, I asked women I knew if they wanted to go and the rest is history... We are all so excited, I keep telling everyone if they saw Mama Mia, which took place in Greece, to look at us as the Mama Mia's of Italy as this is one FUN group that is going. The best part is that I also I get to celebrate my 73rd birthday in Italy with some of my great friends. Others going i.e. Sue Lopez, Susie Jacobson, Linda Hollindar and perhaps even others will be sharing March birthdays as well, my birthday is actually March 8th before we leave the 14th but I am saving the celebration for Italy. Connie Harryman from Greenville, South Carolina is going as well, I met her at a WITI Conference in Santa Clara CA this year and then I did a WITI Webinar on the subject "It's All About Showing Up" and used this Italy trip as an example. Connie was on the call and heard me talk about this and could not wait until the call was over to contact me and ask me "how can I go". I immediately connected her with Rene and now she is going and also very excited. Another new dynamic friend going that I recently met at an event I spoke at in Temecula CA on this same subject and again used this as a SHOW UP story example. She was one of the attendees who I met and immediately connected with. She said "I always wanted to go to Italy, any chance I can join you all" she was so excited that I connected her that moment via my cell with Rene, as it turned out we had a few spaces available and now she is going as well. So you see the ASK worked again and created magic for this woman and she SHOWED UP at the event I spoke at so we were able to connect, plus she is going to get to meet so many other dynamic women who are also going on the trip. My good friend Dr. Sharron Stroud, a minister and founder of Interfaith Ministries Worldwide, who has been honored globally for her work and is such a dynamic speaker, person and long time friend is also joining us. So I hope from this first BLOG you will see the treasures that can happen when you SHOW UP and ASK. I myself have not been much of a doctor person over the years. Recently I had to give in and SHOW UP at my wonderful doctors office as I was having some knee pain. While I was there she asked me if I had any other problems and so I thought that I would share with her that I had been having a little breast pain on my left Breast for awhile.
